2020 Gabrio Bini ‘Rosso Fanino’ Pignatello, Catarratto
Another masterful wine from former architect Gabrio Bini.
A roughly equal blend of Catarratto (White) and Pignatello (Red) grapes co-fermented which spend seven months on skins in terracotta amphorae from Spain. This displays wonderful clarity and focus, with a hint of tannins and pure flavours of blood orange and wild herbs.
Bini makes his wines in clay amphora buried in the ground, in this case leaving the destemmed skins in with the wine for 3 months and a total of 7 months in the ampohora overall. Spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts, no filtering, fining or additives serragghia used. No added sulfites.
As always there is a delicate complexity to Gabrio’s wines that we just adore.
