2018 San Lorenzo 'Ill Gino' Verdicchio
We find it hard not to pronounce this in an Italian accent, so bare with us here. Fattoria San Lorenzo is a producer located in Le Marche, on the Adriatic coast of Italy. The estate is run by Natalino Crognaletti and his mother Vera Biondini, and though they may not be a graphic design experts, (we never judge a wine by its label..) he sure can make wine. Inside this bottle is the fermented juice of a grape called Verdicchio. Verdicchio is the most important grape of the ‘hidden-gem’ region; Le Marche, and this is a great example to show how delicious it can be.
Natalino’s father, ‘Gino’, spent his lifetime studying and selecting Verdicchio clones for the Estate and this cuvee is named in honour of his efforts. It's easy drinking, well balanced and is super peachy, with citrus like acidity and an oily, nutty finish typical of this variety. Bravo Natalino Bravo!
